Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Prepare your child meaningfully for the most important stage of young adulthood. The transition from child to teenager is an important milestone in any child's life. Give your child the tools he or she needs to properly navigate life as a responsible adult.

No matter where you'll be having the Bar or Bat Mitzvah ceremony, the goal of the lessons is to serve as a bridge between the child’s image of Jewish life and the deeper understanding that comes with questioning, learning, and expanding one’s horizons.

Bar Mitzvah Lessons

Bar Mitzvah lessons will vary in content based on the student's prior education and the goals that one wishes to reach. Goals will be set based on the student's prior Judaic knowledge and length of study for the Bar Mitzvah. From preparatory lessons to crafting the perfect speech, we’ll walk you through the process, step by step.  The Rabbi can teach your son to read Hebrew, sing the Brachot for his Aliyah, read the Haftorah, the Maftir, a part of or the entire Torah portion. Lessons can also include preparing a Bar Mitzvah speech and how to lead the prayer services.

Part of each lesson will be dedicated to discussions on the deeper meaning of becoming Bar Mitzvah, as well as fundamental ideas and values of Judaism to give you a successful and meaningful Bar Mitzvah experience.

The lessons are given one-on-one by Rabbi Mendel and take place on a weekly basis. Each lesson is 1 hour long at a cost of $35 per lesson.

Lessons in person are advisable. However, if it's not possible for you to attend, Online lessons are also available.

Bat Mitzvah Lessons

The Bat Mitzvah is an important link in a continuous chain of religious and spiritual experiences, and the most crucial aspect of this milestone is the impact and long term effect the experience will have on the young woman’s Jewish identity.

The pre-Bat Mitzvah months are a good time to spend learning more about the Mitzvahs, and the how’s and why’s of doing them. It’s a time to develop your own personal relationship with Judaism and G‑d.

The lessons serve as a discovery channel to the true meaning of Bat Mitzvah. It teaches girls more about this unique time in their lives, and aids them to gain new perspectives on their special role as females, as adults, and as Jews.

The lessons are given one-on-one by an experienced tutor and take place on a weekly basis. Each lesson is 1 hour long at a cost of $35 per lesson.

Lessons in person are advisable. However, if it's not possible for you to attend, Online lessons are also available.
